May 4, 2007, Newsletter Issue #88: Additives in Cigarettes

Tip of the Week

There are too many additives found in a cigarette to list them all here, but some common additives are:

- Tar

- Tobacco

- Vanilla Extract

- Prune Juice

- Many other harmful chemicals

Although prune juice and vanilla extract are normally safe products that people use every day, they are shown to produce many chemical compounds when they are burned. Nicotine is the major playing factor in a cigarette, but you never know exactly what you are inhaling when smoking because of the numerous other additives found in tobacco.
